"The Walking Dead" season 5 finale spoilers comes with a shock, as another major character gets killed.
The mid-season finale for "The Walking Dead" season 5 airs today, and viewers on the US East Coast already confirms another character is killed. This latest spoiler could've been received better if the Facebook page for the TV show didn't blurt out the news too soon, though.
Spoiler alert: viewers from the West Coast ranted at the unwelcome news, confirming Beth's death in the show's mid-season finale. Beth (Emily Keeney) was last seen in Season 4, kidnapped by unknown abductors; she later resurfaced as an unwilling patient at a hospital near Terminus.
The rumored title for today's episode was "Coda," which may refer to occasional scenes of Beth humming or singing. Warning: "The Walking Dead" season 5 finale spoilers ahead.
Kinney confirmed the news in an interview with TV Line:
"[Fighting back tears] I didn't really feel like reading [the script]. Also, the next day, I still had all of [Episode 5.07] to shoot. All of the Beth scenes you saw last week were done in two days of shooting. [Crying] So I wasn't anxious to read the next script...
It turns out Kinney knew as early as August that her character would be killed off the show, as soon as the script came out.
"I think the original plan was for everyone to get a call [before they read it in the script]. I know when Scott Wilson was killed off [in Season 4], everyone was called [ahead of time]. And I think Scott Gimple originally [planned to do] that because he had times set up to talk to everyone that day.
[But] I know not everyone got called, because some people called me the next morning when they read the script. Like, Norman Reedus and Andy [Lincoln] didn't get any kind of call or anything like that."
