Ahn Jae Hyun is the latest actor considering a role in the upcoming vampire medical drama "Blood."
He is reportedly considering the same role that was rumored to be going to Jung Il Woo and has already been turned down, due to scheduling conflicts, by Yoo Yeon Suk. There is no word yet that Jung Il Woo has definitively turned down the role but Ahn Jae Hyun's agency says he definitely received an offer.
A representative from HB Entertainment told Newsen that, "Ahn Jae Hyun was offered the role on KBS 2TV's 'Blood.' He has been positively checking things in regard to his appearance in the drama."
The role that all three actors were supposedly up for is that of Park Ji Sang, a vampire who overcomes his thirst for blood to become a surgeon at a cancer center. Park Ji Sang has chosen not to curse his fate as a vampire but to use his abilities to save the lives of patients and to provide a dignified end to those who have no hope.
Other actors have already been cast in the drama. Ji Jin Hee, who played the cheating husband in "One Warm Word, plays a rival human surgeon in Park Ji Sang's cancer department. Kwon Hyun Sang, who played a vampire in "Vampire Prosecutor 2," will play a bad and bloodthirsty vampire. He engages Park Ji Sang in the eternal battle of good against evil.
There is also rumored to be a love story in this drama but no actress has yet been named for the part of Park Ji Sang's lover.
If Ahn Jae Hyun does take the role of Park Ji Sang it will be his first role since playing a member of Cha Seung Won's detective team in the police drama "You're All Surrounded." It would also be the first leading role for this model-turned actor. His only previous appearance before "You're All Surrounded" was a supporting role as Jun Ji Hyun's younger brother in the hit drama "You Who Came From The Stars."
Although "Blood" is about vampires, it will also be a medical drama. The production team set to produce "Blood" is the same team that worked on the KBS 2TV's hit medical drama "Good Doctor," starring Joo Won. The team consists of director Ki Min Soo and writer Park Jae Bum.
"Blood" is expected to air in February, following the drama "Healer."
