When NBC announced their plans to air a live "Peter Pan" musical with "Girls" actress Allison Williams taking on the role of the boy who never grew up, people expressed mixed reactions over it. Well, compared to the "Peter Pan" that Jane Krakowski wanted to portray, Williams was definitely a "safer" bet.
Funny Or Die released an exclusive clip of the "30 Rock" diva supreme auditioning for "Peter Pan Live!" in full outfit (and accent). It was said to have leaked directly from NBC itself.
From the video, Krakowski was certainly ready to do what she could to land the role, including making the boy from Neverland addicted to pixie dust and later overcoming it thanks to Wendy.
She even posed legitimate questions, "Do Peter and Wendy ever get together? And would that make Peter straight or a lesbian? Cause I'm cool with whatever."
The "Peter Pan" that Jane Krakowski had in mind was also afraid of heights but is willing to jump off a chair to get the role.
If Peter were to die, that would be no problem. Krakowski would only need some enthusiastic clapping (similar to Tinker Bell's "I believe in fairies" chant) to resurrect her character.
She also showed off her Tony Award from her portrayal of Carla in "Nine," hoping that it would help make the producers decide in her favor.
However, despite her efforts, it looked like she didn't impress the show's producers. It wasn't without lack of trying though. As a last ditch effort, she stormed back in, showing off her singing chops with a short but really high "Cabaret" line - and also to get back the Tony Award that she left behind.
As we know, producers opted to cast the "safer" choice in Allison Williams instead.
Do you think the darker, over sexualized Peter Pan that Jane Krakowski wanted to do would have made a better character?
