The idea of "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch being married off to Sophie Hunter (or any woman at that) made social media nearly explode with cries of both congratulations and anguish from fans.
They have since appeared together as a couple in red carpet events, with the "12 Years A Slave" star gushing about his new fiancé. He's also a "very happy man."
According to Showbiz Spy, however, the sudden announcement alleged isn't just about the British heartthrob's great love for the theatre director.
The gossip sight claimed that Hunter is pregnant with the actor's first son or daughter. The report also said that Hunter is already two months along and would like to keep the news under wraps. The couple will allegedly deny the issue until she finishes her third trimester safely.
"They plan to get married before the baby is born... They're very traditional and don't want their baby to be born out of wedlock," the publication's source allegedly said.
The insider also added that "Ben has long dreamed about his settling down and starting a family. All his dreams are finally coming true. We couldn't be happier for him."
Nevertheless, Cumberbatch is allegedly "delighted" with the news.
Fans are already warming up to the idea of Benedict Cumberbatch getting married soon but what do they think about him possibly having a son or daughter right after?
Surprisingly, many are actually rejoicing the news and have already dubbed the supposed first born "babybatch."
"Benedict Cumberbatch is gonna be a daddy. Hell yeah baby, fandom rejoice! #DaddyBatch #BabyBatch xD," one fan posted on Twitter.
Another tweeted, "Congratulations to Benny for this great news. #Babybatch"
One fan felt a bit disappointed with the news, saying, "BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH IS GONNA BE A DAD.... AND IT'S NOT MY BABY."
According to a previous interview, his fans aren't the only ones who want to see a mini-Benedict soon.
"Well, my mother is also waiting for Cumberbabies," he previously told People magazine. Benedict Cumberbatch also wants to get married in a "very private" ceremony.
