Which Apple device is the better buy? We pit the iPhone 6 Plus against the iPad Mini 3 to see which is worth the purchase.
For design and display, the iPad Mini 3 measures 134.7 x 7.5 x 200 mm and weighs 341 grams, which makes it heavier than the iPhone 6 Plus which weighs only 172 grams and measures 158.1 x 7.1 x 77 mm. The problem with the iPhone 6 Plus is its size, because of which users will frequently have to carry the phone in a bag. The dimensions of the phone make it pretty difficult to fit the whole thing into a pocket. The iPad Mini 3 comes with a 7.9 inch screen that uses a 2048 x 1536 resolution and a pixel density of 326 ppi, while the iPhone 6 Plus comes with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 5.5 inch display, and a 401 ppi pixel density. Both devices use IPS technology and have oleophobic coatings.
In terms of hardware, the iPhone 6 Plus uses the A8 processor from Apple, alongside the M8 co-processor, while the iPad Mini 3 is still stuck using the A7 and M7 package. The iPhone is a lot faster and performance levels are way higher on this device. Storage isn’t an issue as both offer 16, 64 and 128 GB variants.
For battery and camera specs, the iPhone 6 Plus has the advantage, as Apple claims that the smrtphone could last up to 12 hours before shutting down, while the iPad Mini 3 can only hold on for about 10 hours.
The iPhone 6 Plus also has a better camera. It has an 8 MP iSight lens that outruns the 5 MP iSight camera found on the iPad Mini 3, which also uses older technology from the A7 chip, unlike the iPhone lens.
The starting price for the iPhone 6 Plus is about $900, while the iPad Mini 3 is about $380.
