The new Devil May Cry for PS4 comes in two separate releases; the remastered Devil May Cry 4 from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will have new features included.
Capcom announced it will release DmC: Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One March 17 next year. The game is an upgrade and expansion to the franchise reboot launched in previous-gen consoles. It comes with downloadable content from the original, paired with new gameplay modes. The current-gen release will also run at 60 frames per second and 1080p.
A separate release for Devil May Cry Special Edition was also announced for summer, but Capcom is keeping the details on the title scarce at the moment.
In the PlayStation blog, Dominic Matthews of Ninja Theory said the team was finally able to improve on the original DmC like they intended to (ign.com).
"When creating the original DmC, there were improvements that we wanted to make, but never got the chance to. In DmC Definitive Edition, we've made those improvements."
Capcom's press release for the new Devil May Cry for PS4 also revealed more than a handful of features for Devil May Cry 4 for PS4.
"New to DmC: Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition, players will be able to play as Dante's twin brother himself in Vergil's Bloody Palace Mode.
For an extra depth of challenge, players will be able to try out the added Gods Must Die difficulty level and Must Style Mode as well as Hardcore Mode, which has been designed to play more like the classic Devil May Cry series. DmC: Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition players will also receive new Dante and Vergil costumes inspired by classic Devil May Cry character designs." (polygon.com)
