Which smartphone is the best purchase? We pit Apple's iPhone 5S against the Huawei Ascend P7 to see which one should consumers buy.
In terms of design and display, the Huawei Ascend P7 has a clean, stylish, minimalistic smartphone with metal perimeter and flat, sharp design. There are no physical buttons on the front of the device, Instead the power button is located on the left, and the home, back and settings button are touch screen buttons on the display. Apple’s iPhone 5S main display difference is in the size, with the Ascend P7 delivering a 5 inch display, while the iPhone 5S offers 4 inch screen display.The P7 delivers 1920x1080pixels and 441ppi, much more than the 1136×640 and 326ppi that the Apple device can offer. The Ascend P7 dimensions are 140x69x6.5 and weighing 125 grams, while the iPhone 5S has a dimension of 124x59x7.6 and weighing 112 grams.
For the hardware and OS, The Huawei Ascend P7 does not have a premium processor, but it is more powerful than the one found in the iPhone 5S. The P7 is powered by a quad core processor, clocked at 1.8GHz and comes with 2GB of RAM memory, while the iPhone 5S on the other hand, features a dual core processor, clocked at 1.3GHz and supported by 1GB RAM memory. The Huawei device has only 16GB of built in memory storage. There is a support for microSD card, and in this case, it is more of a necessity and less of an optional choice. While Apple’s device does not offer support for microSD card, it does come in 16, 32 and 64GB versions.
The Huawei device runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat, but with the Emotion UI which reminiscences the looks a lot like the iOS. However, for the pure iOS experience, which is simplistic and easy to operate, Apple delivers the original on the iPhone 5S.
For the battery and camera specs, the Huawei Ascend P7 comes with a lot larger battery than the iPhone 5S, which is required to power up the bigger display. The capacity of the battery is set at 2500 mAh, delivering approximately 14 hours of talk time, while the Apple device is equipped with a 1570 mAh battery delivering a maximum of 10 hours of talk time.
The P7 has borrowed the 13-MP sensor from Sony, which is one of the best shooters on the market at the moment. The device has an 8-MP front facing selfie friendly camera. The iPhone 5S comes with an 8-MP rear facing camera and a 1.2-MP sensor on the front of the smartphone.
The Huawei Ascend P7 cost $460, while the the iPhone 5S cost $500.
