AMC has confirmed "The Walking Dead" spinoff news of the show's location. The rumor mill has gone wild with speculation, but now it's settled TWD 2.0 is set in the US West Coast, in Los Angeles (tvline.com).

"The Walking Dead" spinoff name is yet to be announced, but it's reported that the show-runners want to explore the post-zombie apocalypse in a different corner of the world, in a different perspective. The new show is expected to be set in events immediately after the disaster, focusing on humanity's efforts to contain and stop it.

AMC President Charles Collier says fans are very curious about the spread of the disease in other parts of TWD universe, ever since the success of the AMC series.

"Almost from the beginning of The Walking Dead (which is set in Atlanta), fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world."

Robert Kirkman is co-creator of the graphic novel in which the TV series is based, hinted as much in a statement when the AMC pilot for the new show was announced.

"There are many corners of The Walking Dead universe that remain unseen in the shadows. Being given the opportunity to shine a light into those corners and see what lurks out there is an absolute thrill. I know the fans are anxious to hear what Dave and I have been cooking up for this new universe of The Walking Dead, and I'm happy to be one step closer to sharing it with them."

As far as "The Walking Dead" spinoff casting calls, three actors are currently confirmed in regular roles: Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.

"The Walking Dead" Season 5 episodes continue their run February 8 next year (eonline.com).
