Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss previously shared how much of a "quite tricky" it is to set a specific "Sherlock" Season 4 air date due to the main characters having such full calendars.
Lead stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman both have movie projects lined up for them. Both stars are starring in the Peter Jackson helmed finale to JRR Tolkien's "The Hobbit" film adaptation, Cumberbatch voicing the dragon Smaug and Freeman giving life to Bilbo Baggins.
Cumberbatch was also in the Oscar-buzzed "The Imitation Game" as the brilliant Mathematician, Alan Turing. He also lent his voice to "Penguins Of Madagascar" and just recently closed a deal with Marvel to become neurosurgeon/magician Doctor Strange in future movies.
However, they aren't the only ones with upcoming major films.
Andrew Scott, who plays Sherlock Holmes' arch enemy Jim Moriarty in the BBC series, has been slated to come back for the "Sherlock" season 4 air date as well. Although when he will actually appear on the Emmy Award winning show is still under wraps, fans are already anticipating an explanation of his sudden reappearance after watching Moriarty shoot himself in season 2.
Bustle previously reported that Scott has also been casted for the next James Bond film, "Spectre," as Denbigh. According to Deadline, the spy espionage film has already started filming in early December with the expected release date on November 6, 2015.
However, the "Sherlock" special episode that's scheduled to air on Christmas 2015 will reportedly start filming in January 2015. The rest of the episodes for season 4 will be filmed later in the year.
Will he be able to juggle filming schedules for both projects?
Bustle believes that Andrew Scott's involvement in the latest Bond film will not affect the "Sherlock" season 4 air date schedules. After all, the show's main stars, Cumberbatch and Freeman, were able to work around their projects for the popular British series. Even the "12 Years A Slave" actor's upcoming wedding didn't seem to affect the show's planned schedule.
