With the premiere release of the movie, “The Interview,” cancelled, Sony began to receive to dozens of criticisms from fans and moviegoers for the last couple of weeks. Apparently, the Sony hacks story has to get going, and yet to be resolved. Recently, Sony has decided to hire a crisis specialist to better handle the situation that they’re currently in.

Renowned crisis adviser, Judy Smith was called to take charge of the Sony hacks. According to one report, she has been giving sound advice to Sony Picture’s chief Amy Pascal in order to prevent further damages due to cyberattacks, and ultimately resolve the issue the safest way possible.

Many have shown their confidence in Smith’s skills for her years of service in the government. She is known to have some deep contacts within during her time as part of the Staff for George H. W. Bush. After she left the White House, she founded her own consulting firm, Smith and Company, which focuses on crisis handling as well as media relations.

Sony’s troubles began almost a month ago when a group of online hackers, identifying themselves as Guardians of Peace (#GOP) seized some of the studio’s internal data that includes some of their secrets, and threatened to release them to the public. They claim that their motive is to stop Sony Studios from releasing “The Interview” in cinemas, as they believe that it is a movie that promotes terrorism.

At first, Sony had conducted their own investigation for the thought that North Korea may be involved in the said activity. In the end, however, they have to pull the film from movie theaters or risk having their sensitive data leaked across the net.

Sony Studio’s situation is very critical at the moment, and Smith’s methods in dealing with the Sony hacks scenario should play a major part in determining its fate. In the meantime, #GOP has the upper hand to ensure that the movie “The Interview” doesn’t come out in theaters and would probably do what it can to halt Sony Studios in getting back a cent that it lost.
