“Fancy” rapper Iggy Azalea has had a tough week, as her feud with Azealia Banks was put on the spotlight once again.
After Azealia Banks’ recent interview where she spoke about her issues with Iggy Azalea, stars in the music industry, including will.i.am, tweeted their support for the “Work” hitmaker.
“@IGGYAZALEA hiphop is global now. it doesn’t matter if your white or black,” wrote the Black Eyed Peas member on Monday.
He added, “Thanks for contributing & spreading our culture positively. It saddens me that people are making a big deal about race in hiphop & not ethics. Today’s ethics goes against our foundation.”
Will.i.am’s tweets comes days after T.I. showed support for Iggy Azalea shortly after Banks’ comments.
“In 1980 a white girl from punk rock group @blondieOFFICIAL helped #hiphop expand beyond the hood with a song called #rapture. At the end of the day who cares what people think. Do what you love. stay #fancy #congrats,” tweeted Will.i.am.
Rapper Lupe Fiasco also showed his support for Iggy Azalea via Twitter.
“Iggy has a place in HipHop. Her place,” tweeted Fiasco.
Iggy Azalea’s feud with Azealia Banks took an even uglier turn this past week after a hacking group called Anonymous reportedly issued threats to release images from a sex tape supposedly featuring “The New Classic” hitmaker, according to the NY Daily News. The Twitter account the threats were issued from has reportedly since been deactivated.
Iggy Azalea took to Twitter to respond to the criticism regarding her music and her place in hiphop, according to S2S magazine.
Thanks lupe and will iam what you guys said was really nice and i appreciate it.

most people learn every and anything they can about the subjects they are passionate about, I'm no different. — IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 23, 2014
i find it patronizing to assume i have no knowledge of something I'm influenced by, but I've also grown up with strangers assuming that.

so its completely fine and I'm used to it by now. i don't lose any sleep over it. — IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 23, 2014
im also not going to sit on twitter & play hip hop squares with strangers to somehow prove i deserve to be a fan of or influenced by hiphop.

i would have to be an idiot or incredibly bored to think that would change anyones already cemented opinion of me. I'm neither. — IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) December 23, 2014
how you feel about me blending musical genres together doesn't bother me, no one is making you support or buy pop rap albums.
