Rumors of Chris Rock and a new flame may be making headlines in the near future as reports of the “Top Five” actor filing for divorce from his wife have surfaced.
Chris Rock and his wife Malaak Compton-Rock, who is the founder and executive director of the non-profit organization styleWORKS, reportedly announced their split on Sunday.
“Chris Rock has filed for divorce from his wife, Malaak,” the actor’s rep told E! News.
The rep added, “This is a personal matter and Chris requests privacy as he and Malaak work through this process and focus on their family.”
Chris Rock and his wife reportedly previously experienced marital problems. The 49-year-old comedian was involved in a civil suit several years ago that was reportedly filed by a Hungarian model who had allegedly been claiming that the comedian fathered her child.
Two DNA tests have proven that Rock is not the father of her child, according to E! News. Rock and the model, Monica Zsibrita, reportedly had a “two-night-stand” back in 1998 while Rock was temporarily estranged from his wife.
The couple has reportedly “been living separate lives for some time,” according to a source for E! News.
Chris Rock and Malaak Compton-Rock married in 1996, according to People. They have two daughters together, 12-year-old Lola Simone and 10-year-old Zahra Savannah.
45-year-old Compton-Rock released a statement regarding the divorce as well.
“After much contemplation and 19 years of marriage, Chris and I have decided to go our separate ways," Compton-Rock said in a statement to People magazine.
"Being fortunate enough to lead a life of service by working with those most vulnerable makes me well aware of life's blessings, even when faced with difficulties. While recognizing that this is a significant change, my children remain at the center of my life and their well-being is my top priority. It is in this spirit that I sincerely ask that their privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transition in our lives.”
