With the addition of a rookie actress, the casting is finally complete for the upcoming romantic comedy "Kill Me, Heal Me." And that's a good thing as the romantic comedy is due to start airing on January 7, following the end of "Mr. Baek."
Less than a month ago, casting issues threatened to stall the comedy's release. Lee Seung Gi and Lim Ji Yeon previously considered playing the leading roles in this comedy but within a week both opted out due to scheduling conflicts. Lee Seung Gi opted out because he was committed to promoting his film "Today's Love" with co-star Moon Chae Won. Lim Ji Yeon dropped out because she was busy filming the movie "Treacherous Retainer."
Fortunately, Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum, who were a winning casting choice in last year's surprise hit drama "Secret Love," signed on for the leading roles.
Script readings began a few weeks after the leading roles were filled.
Ji Sung plays Do Hyun, a wealthy man who suffers from dissociative identity disorder, also known as multiple personality disorder. He has not one but seven personalities and they often don't agree on what he ought to be doing. Some of his personalities engage in bizarre behavior.
Hwang Jung Eum plays the recently certified psychiatrist Oh Ri Jin. She attempts to heal Ji Sung's character, which will no doubt involve killing off some of his more troubling personalities. But given Do Hyun's high profile, she will have to treat him in secret.
The latest and final addition to the MBC comedy cast is rookie actress Kang Soo Jin. She will play Lee Young Seon, an upbeat intern in the psychiatric department where Oh Ri Jin works and Do Hyun comes for treatment.
"I am so happy to be in the drama with such great people," said Kang Soo Jin. "I hope to learn a lot from this project and I will work hard to earn everyone's support.
"Kill Me, Heal Me" is a joint production between Pan Entertainment, a Korean company, and Huace Media, a Chinese company.
The cast also includes Kim Yoo Ri, who will play Han Chae Yeon, Do Hyun's first love, Shim Hye Jin who will play his mother and Kim Yong Ae playing his grandmother. Seo Kang Joon plays Do Hyun's novelist brother.
Jin Soo Wan, who wrote the screenplay for "The Moon Embracing The Sun," is the screenwriter for "Kill Me, Heal Me," which was also produced by Pan Entertainment.
