It looks like the "cinematic" The Order 1886 is going to have a multiplayer mode if the reports and rumors are to be believed.
Previously, In an interview with Patrick O'Rouke at Canada.com, Ready at Dawn's Ru Weerasuriya has admitted that they were thinking about a multiplayer mode for The Order 1886 but a multiplayer mode for the game is just not a good idea at the moment.
"We're opening this one window into The Order, which is 1886, with this IP. At its core we knew we wanted to make a third-person action-adventure game, and then it was answering those questions like, 'well, if we do that, should there be multiplayer?' We talked about it but here's the tricky part. When you don't have something set in people's minds as a new IP on your first game, it's difficult to convince people this world exists in multiplayer. We'd love to do it and we want to do it but it's not what we're doing right now. Right now it's about doing something that opened this world up. I can't tell you if we're ever going to do one or something like that but it's true, there's space in this environment to have a great third-person shooter."
But it seems like Ready at Dawn has changed their minds about multiplayer as Sanjay Singh of GamePalace India has reported that The Order 1886 would have an online multiplayer Co-op mode and PVP but it would be released as DLC.
GamePalace India notes that unlike DLC's that were cut out from the game and sold later, the multiplayer dlc for The Order 1886 is just being developed only until recently. So the wait for the online co-op and pvp would take a while.
Meanwhile, Ru Weerasuriya also reaffirmed that the Order 1886 release date is still going to be on February 20, 2015 amidst rumors of the game being delayed to May 2015.
