10 years have passed since the last Half Life game was released, but fans still continue to hope for a Half Life 3 release date announcement.
Valve founder Gabe Newell has pretty much made it clear for the hopefuls that the highly anticipated 3rd installment is not being developed. And should they decide to finally produce the game soon, it will be because of the gamers clamouring to get "closure" of some sort since Half Life 2 episode 2 was launched.
As Motoring Crunch reported, "When questioned about the game, Gabe simply says that he was surprised by the anticipation showed by the fans on Half Life 3. Gabe then concluded the Half Life subject by saying that Half Life 3 won't be released anytime soon as it is not being developed. However, due to the strong interest by the fans, Gabe admitted that the game is possible for production in the future."
Several Half Life 3 release date rumors suggest that fans are disappointed with Newell's latest announcement. Some of the expectant gamers can't seem to accept that Valve has taken 10 years to finally confirm that they are not pursuing the franchise anymore.
As Air Herald reported, "That news hit fans hard but at least it settles the argument, the anguish, and the frustration that fans have been suffering from for years now as they constantly felt that Valve would live up to its promises to finish out the story of the game which was left at a morbid cliffhanger. Now that the official word is out that might turn some people away from Valve because they're not living up to their promises and no one wants to engage in gameplay with an episodic series that isn't episodic."
"The Half Life franchise changed the way video games are produced, developed, and marketed. It blew away fans and critics from day one... Not to have a sequel after leaving fans on a cliffhanger is nothing short of disastrous," it added.
