Rumors and news

Rumors and unconfirmed news suggest that "Star Wars Episode 7" will get a PG-13 rating, as EA will unveil a new open-world game that will bring big bucks for the franchise.

According to The Daily Beast, out of all the films in the franchise, only one has received a PG-13 rating and that was the "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" back in 2005.

"The rest have been PG," it said. "However, first time Star Wars director J.J. Abrams has never made a film with any other rating."

"Considering how fans reacted to the childishness of the early prequels, and the unlikelihood of seeing a fully clothed Luke Skywalker/Han Solo makeout session that would scare an R rating out of the uptight MPAA, the next 'Star Wars' will be dark like a thirteen-year-old's bedroom," the website added.

Rich Goldstein noted in his article that there were several rumors and unconfirmed news reports surrounding "Star Wars Episode 7" that have bordered on the ridiculous, among them is the death of Han Solo.

"While the new films may have put Harrison Ford in the hospital, even the Grim Reaper was forced to accede the actor's invincibility after watching him survive 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,'" he wrote.

Another "Star Wars Episode 7" rumor suggested that Obi Wan Kenobi was actually Luke Skywalker's real father, not Darth Vader.

Meanwhile, Seeking Alpha reported of rumors pointing to a new game related to "Star Wars Episode 7."

"A new 'Star Wars' open-world game is reportedly in the works and could become a source of highly recurring and profitable revenue (based on subscriptions, a la Word of Warcraft)," it said. "Note however that the 2011 'MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic' switched to free-to-play just eleven months after its release as it failed to attract a wide enough subscriber base."
