Kobe Bryant's game winner against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday proved that he's still clutch going 19 years into the NBA. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar was second in all star voting among Western Conference guards.
The Black Mamba only scored 20 points but it was one of his more efficient games of the young season as he shot 50% from the field. He also finished the game with six rebounds, six assists along with three steals.
"From the opening tip, Bryant looked focused. He made four of six shots and finished the first quarter with nine points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist," reported NBC Los Angeles.
But the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers was very cold which explained why the team trailed the Indiana Pacers after the first quarter, 28-15.
The purple and gold trailed most of the way up until three minutes to go in the game when they cut the lead to one.
Kobe Bryant scored the last nine Lakers points, including the game winner with 12.4 seconds left. Roy Hibbert missed on the other end of the floor giving the purple and gold the victory.
The Black Mamba, meanwhile, was second in the most number of votes among Western Conference guards.
"Bryant has 694,665 votes, a tally that only trails Golden State's Stephen Curry (755,486) in the Western Conference. Bryant has sizable cushion against Houston's James Harden (516,514) and the Clippers' Chris Paul (334,544)," Inside SoCal reported.
Ahead of Kobe Bryant in all star votes were Lebron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers who tallied 775,810 and New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis (732,154). The balloting will end on January 19 this year.
Long considered to be one of the game's most clutch players, Kobe Bryant's game winners are tempered by the number of misses he had.
