Late last year, Melissa McCarthy shocked fans with her dramatic weight loss but it could be short-lived as a tabloid alleged that she was "binge eating" over the holidays.

In a report from Radar Online, quoting the National Enquirer, friends of the actress are allegedly concerned because she seemed to have ditched her diet as she was overindulging on food during the Christmas holiday, "possibly putting her health in peril."

On Christmas Eve, Melissa McCarthy was snapped by Radar Online stepping out North Hollywood Chinese restaurant clutching "a bag full of goodies"

"The Bridesmaids star, 44, lost more than 40 pounds this year, but might be putting her health in peril by putting it back on too fast with bags full of calorie-heavy cuisine," it said, adding that after the dramatic weight loss, Melissa McCarthy gained all the pounds back right after Thanksgiving because she "can't resist rich foods and desserts."

Nutritionist to the stars Lisa DeFazio told the Enquirer that Melissa McCarthy's "yo-yo" diet will only damage her health.

Previously, Melissa McCarthy attributed her weight loss to a low-carb and high protein diet, said MSN.

Quoting Star magazine, the website said that the "Tammy" star has "been making small changes and seeing big results. It's given her a real confidence boost."

However, the comedian reportedly wasn't too keen about losing too much weight since she wants to keep her curves.

''Melissa knows that fans love her big and beautiful, and she's not obsessed with dieting. She's looking for a happy medium," the source told Star.

But what pushed Melissa McCarthy to finally consider a weight loss plan? ''Melissa realized she wasn't being as healthy as she could be. She wants to set a good example for her kids and she wants to be around to become a grandmother too,'' the source added.

Early last year, in an interview with Rolling Stone as shared by Hollywood Life, Melissa McCarthy claimed that she's not buying into the whole weight loss hype. "I could eat healthier, I could drink less. I should be learning another language and working out more, but I'm just always saying, 'Ah, I could get hit by a bus tomorrow,'" she said.
