"The Last: Naruto The Movie" is not yet the final instalment of the "Naruto: The New Era Project." According to Anime News Network, a new film which stars Boruto- the titular ninja and Hinata's son, is set for an August 2015 release.

"I'm frantically thinking up a story for Bolt," manga creator Masashi Kishimoto said. "I've not even had a chance to catch my breath after finishing the series."

Reportedly, Kishimoto shared fans should watch out for the appearance of Sasuke's daughter Sarada as well.

"I conceived a story in which Bolt and [Sasuke's daughter] Sarada appears," he said.

Boruto was called "Bolt" because according to Kishimoto, who thought of Bolt's special fighting move, he is the one who holds Naruto and Hinata's relationship together.

Bolt appeared on the 700th chapter of Naruto manga series. Reportedly, Kishimoto plans to finish his current Naruto projects instead of coming up with a brand new stuffs. It is also unknown at the moment if Bolt's sister Himawari will have a role to play in the said film.

Aside from the new movie, it has been previously reported that Hayato Date, Naruto television anime director, announced that there will be a continuation of the TV series together with a "new development" beginning 2015.

Japanese site My Game News Flash reported according to Latin Times that "the sequel may focus on a new generation of Shinobi as rumors suggest Naruto and Hinata will have two children, a son and a daughter. Hinata and Naruto's son will be named Bolt, or Boruto, a pun on Naruto. Hinata and Naruto's daughter is named "Himawari," which is "sunflower" in Japanese."

"The Last: Naruto The Movie" is the 10th feature film in the franchise which earned 1.47 billion yen which is approximately US$12.1 million as of 3:00 p.m. on its first day.
