Iggy Azalea has spoken on the criticism that she’s been receiving throughout her career.
The Australian rapper has claimed that the negative reviews that she’s been receiving have “100,000 percent to do with the fact that she has a vagina,” according to the U.K.’s The Independent.
When the “Work” rapper was asked about whether she is the victim of misogyny during an interview with Vanity Fair, Azalea responded with, “Well, they don’t say that stuff about Macklemore.”
The “Beg For It” hitmaker added, “So, yes, I think it has 100,000 percent to do with the fact that I have a vagina.
Iggy Azalea’s ongoing feud with Azealia Banks was heightened last month when Banks expressed specific reasons as to why she had a problem with the “Bounce” rapper.
“That Iggy Azalea s**t isn’t better than any f**king black girl that’s rapping today, you know,” Banks told Hot 97.
She added, “When they give these Grammys out, all it says to white kids is ‘Oh yeah, you’re great, you’re amazing, you can do whatever you put your mind to’. But it says to black kids, ‘You don’t have s**t. You don’t own s**t, not even the s**t you created for yourself,’ and it makes me upset.”
Azalea has also reportedly been criticized for not creating “real” music and for allegedly using ghostwriters.
“People have said I’m not real rap or real hip-hop, but I don’t care if people think I’m pop or rap. Everyone interprets music differently,” Azalea stated, according to TIME.
