Robin Lord Taylor's "Gotham" interview addresses the fan theory surrounding his character on the show; the speculation has gained quite a cult following. With season 1 of the series back from break, it appears there's a slim chance Taylor's Oswald Cobblepot may not turn out to be the villain viewers expect.
Show-runner Bruno Heller is taking great liberties with the TV adaptation of the Batman mythology, mixing and matching the story arcs almost at whim. Screenrant reports audience reception to the show is mixed but remains interesting. There's still the unanswered question of how Batman's nemesis The Joker enters the show, though.
A fan took matters into his own hands and created an elaborate theory, shared on Reddit (spoiler alert). The post proposed compelling arguments on the identity of Robin Lord Taylor's character, which hardcore fans of the Dark Knight graphic novels are familiar with.
Robin Lord Taylor's "Gotham" interview confirmed the actor is just as clueless as anybody on how his character will play out, but is fascinated with the fan theory just the same.
"I find it incredibly unlikely, but at the same time, I have no idea what could happen. I get the scripts and I'll read something, and I will be just as shocked as everyone else is when they see it happen onscreen." Taylor said in an interview with MTV.
Referring to the fan theory and Reddit post, Taylor said it was a distant possibility.
"[I read that theory], and I was like, 'Huh.' I was like, 'Nah.' But then I was so impressed at the detail that this person went into... the guy who formulated this theory. I was just amazed at the amount of attention that people are paying to the show. I mean, he was looking at the colors of my vest and my suit, and extrapolating off of that."
Robin Lord Taylor's "Gotham" interview debunks the theory, but the show still has its major villain kept under wraps.
