Melissa McCarthy showed off her weight loss during the red carpet event at the Nokia Theater on Wednesday night before going home with the trophy for People's Favorite Comedic Movie Actress.

During the People's Choice Awards, Melissa McCarthy wore a black blazer and trouser with vertical lines that accentuated her slimmer figure.

"The 44-year-old finished off the polished look with a pair of strappy black heels, a black clutch, and bright red lipstick," Daily Mail said. "Melissa kept her accessories simple, sporting a few silver rings, and a pair of dangling silver earrings for the occasion."

The Us Weekly noted that Melissa McCarthy looked more confident due to her weight loss.

"The star's edgy ensemble featured bold leather panels that ran along the seams; she carried a sleek clutch and Forevermark jewelry," it said.

Previously, Melissa McCarthy attributed her weight loss to a low-carb and high protein diet, said MSN.

Quoting Star magazine, the website said that the "Tammy" star has "been making small changes and seeing big results. It's given her a real confidence boost."

However, the comedian wasn't too keen about losing too much weight since she wants to keep her curves.

''Melissa knows that fans love her big and beautiful, and she's not obsessed with dieting. She's looking for a happy medium," the source told Star.

"Melissa realised she wasn't being as healthy as she could be. She wants to set a good example for her kids and she wants to be around to become a grandmother too,'' the source added.

Aside from her dramatic weight loss, Melissa McCarthy also took home the trophy for Favorite Comedic Movie Actress after being nominated for two other categories, Favorite Movie Actress and and Favorite Comedic TV Actress.

"She had been nominated in the category alongside Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Drew Barrymore, and Tina Fey," Daily Mail said.
