"The Walking Dead" season 5 new trailer teases the aftermath of Beth's death; Rick's crew appears more tightly-knit, stumbling into new unknowns. That's the most you could get from the new, one-minute trailer.
The show closed its midseason with a shocking episode, which reminds of the scene in season 2, the moment Sophia walked out that barn door. "The Walking Dead" season 5 new trailer is a tease of the wake of Beth's death, and it looks like Rick's crew is wandering aimlessly to survive.
One of the turning point of the first half of season 5 is Eugene's confession (spoiler alert); turns out the character is faking knowledge of the outbreak and its cure. That left Rick's crew with nowhere to go, and with Beth's rescue a major upset, the morale of Rick's crew takes another serious hit.
Show-runner Scott Gimple confirmed in an interview the audience can expect more shockers in upcoming episodes, referring to Beth's death.
"This is something that will affect all of these characters extremely deeply moving into the next half of the season. These characters are being ground down into the Earth. This isn't the last devastating event to befall these characters... they are being tested and they are being pushed and this isn't the end of that."
"The Walking Dead" season 5 resumes on February 8, and it's expected the characters will respond in different ways to Beth's death. The new trailer hints of hope for the crew, though; titled "Surviving Together," the one-minute clip shows the band wandering through the woods (screenrant.com).
The first half of season 5 ended with the highest mid-season finale to date, with about 14.8 million viewers:
"AMC's 'The Walking Dead' ended the first half of its fifth season last night with a mid-season finale that delivered 14.8 million viewers and 9.6 million adults 18-49, up 23% and 24%, respectively, over last season's corresponding episode," ScreenRant reports.
Will Rick and his crew venture into new dangerous territory in the second half of season 5?
