The CW's breakthrough dramedy, "Jane The Virgin" has been renewed for a second season, according to TV Line!
Was the renewal a reward for lead actress Gina Rodriguez' win at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards last January 11?
Dubbed as the "breakthrough artist" of 2014 by critics even before the new series premiered, Rodriguez wanted to portray a character that young Latinas can relate and look up to.
After thanking God for making her "an artist" and her parents who taught her "to dream big and to never stop dreaming," she dedicated The CW's first Golden Globe trophy to the show's staff and the culture she represents.
"This award is so much more than myself, it represents a culture that wants to see themselves as heroes," she said in her speech, reported by Entertainment Tonight.
She ended her speech with a heart-warming shout out to her father: "My father used to tell me to say every morning, 'Today is going to be a great day. I can and I will.' Well, Dad - Today is a great day. I can and I did."
With Rodriguez' Best Actress in a TV Series (Musical or Comedy) award, having "Jane The Virgin" renewed for one more season would have been an easy decision for The CW executives.
According to TV Line, the network also revealed the bright futures of seven other shows.
Aside from Gina Rodriguez' heart-warming drama, The CW also approved new seasons for "Arrow," "Reign," "Supernatural," "The 100," "The Flash," "The Originals," and "The Vampire Diaries."
"Arrow" will be entering Season 4 while "The Vampire Diaries" will be preparing for Season 7.
"Supernatural," on the other hand, will be surpassing "Smallville's" record as it enters its 11th season. "Reign," "The 100," and "The Originals" will be having their third season, while "Jane The Virgin" contemporary, "The Flash" will also be running for one more year.
Do you think "Jane The Virgin" being renewed for a second season will earn the network another Golden Globe nomination next year?
