Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz are perceived to be polar opposites on the surface but they might share similar values which led to the wedding. The "Annie" actress, meanwhile, stayed true to her plan of having quickie nuptials.
Fox News noted just how different former Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden is from Cameron Diaz's previous relationships with Justin Timberlake, Matt Dilon, Alex Rodriguez and Paul Sculfor.
"Could it be a good thing that Cam's new husband shares no commonalities with her exes? After all, those guys are exes for a reason," the article speculated.
Weighing in on the Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz's wedding, Andrea Syrtash, author of "He's Just Not Your Type (And That's a Good Thing)," told Fox: "My theory is pretty simple: if you keep dating the same type of person and it never seems to work out, your true 'type' may be the kind of person you haven't tried dating before."
"We judge opposites very superficially. Diaz and Madden may not physically match; but if their values are aligned, they aren't that different," she says.
Meanwhile, Boston Herald pointed out that Cameron Diaz was at least consistent with her past interviews where she nixed the idea of a big wedding typical of celebrities.
"Cameron Diaz never fantasized about a big white wedding. 'I'm not much of a planner,' she said in 2010. 'I would probably make the phone call 20 minutes before the bus leaves for the chapel and ask if anyone is available to come,'" the publication said.
Boston Herald added that the wedding only took around two weeks to prepare as Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz exchanged vows before 100 guests in her mansion in Beverly Hills. His twin brother Joel Madden was his best man, while her entourage included older sister Chimene Cain, Drew Barrymore, and Nicole Richie.
