The "Fashion Police" hosts paid tribute to Joan Rivers following her untimely death last year, while new mainstay Kathy Griffin was said to have been too harsh during the show's Golden Globes 2015 review.
"Fashion Police" hosts returned after a four month hiatus, and kicked off the returning series last January 12 with a Golden Globes 2015 red carpet review. Hollywood Life said the program began with Kathy Griffin remembered Joan Rivers, who died last September 4 after a botched throat procedure at a New York Upper East Side clinic, Yorkville Endoscopy.
"Before I start making more enemies and burning more bridges, I just want to thank my good friend whom we all miss, Joan Rivers," said the late comedienne's protégé. The other "Fashion Police" hosts and people from the studio applauded.
"Of course, Joan, I know you're watching from heaven but don't get it twisted. I will not be afraid to bring the hammer down on anyone and everyone."
"I learned from the best," Kathy Griffin added.
However, another report from Hollywood Life said the redheaded comedienne might have been too harsh during the Golden Globes 2015 red carpet review.
One of the stars slammed by Kathy Griffin was George Clooney's wife, Amal Alammudin - Clooney. The red carpet first-timer wore a black Christian Dior gown, which she paired with white opera gloves. The hand accessory garnered mixed reviews from people, especially the "Fashion Police" hosts.
"She's annoying," Kathy Griffin said about George Clooney's wife.
Kathy Griffin previously told People that she is aware of how Joan Rivers practically shaped the hit E! TV show, so she will definitely not hold back as a way of paying tribute after her death.
"Joan took 'Fashion Police' and morphed it into a show that was able to take the piss out of all aspects of celebrity. I think that is something I'm gonna have fun with, too," the 54-year-old comedienne said.
"I hope to at least continue in her fearless spirit because that's really what I think the show demands and I think it's what the viewers want."
