Winter's chilliest days are a good excuse to curl up on the couch and marathon some k-dramas that are set during that season. And if you live in a climate where it never freezes, the snowy scenes in these dramas will seem quite romantic. Here are a few we think will warm your heart:
"That Winter The Wind Blows": Song Hye Kyo plays a woman who can't see snowflakes or the man pretending to be her brother, played by Jo In Sung. So he piggybacks her up a mountain to hear the music made by the icy branches rubbing together. The wintry weather is the perfect backdrop for a budding relationship between two characters that are lonely and find love in the wrong place.
"Missing You": Park Yoochun's character waited 15 years to find his lost love, played by Yoon Eun Hye. Although she at first won't admit who she is, they take a walk along a snowy highway and kiss in the bright winter sunlight. In k-dramas the first snowfall of the season has a special significance. Their characters vow to meet up on the day of the first snowfall.
"You Who Came From The Stars": In the Joseon-era it was also believed that all lies were forgiven on the day of the first snowfall. In the Joseon-era flashbacks in this drama Kim Soo Hyun's character Do Min Joon receives a love confession from the young Chun Song Yi. But when he looks embarrassed she says it was just a lie. Do Min Joon and Chun Song Yi also have a time-stopping kiss on a frozen lake that can make winter weather seem romantic. And Jun Ji Hyun enough stunning wintry fashions to inspire a mid-winter shopping trip.
"Mary Stayed Out All Night": Although the character played by Jang Geun Suk spends a lot of time complaining about the cold, there's something romantic about his chilly garage-turned-apartment. And he's happy to busk in the snowy park as long as Moon Geun Young is by his side.
"Winter Sonata": The original Hallyu hit "Winter Sonata," also known as "Winter Love Story," introduced the world to the phenomenon that has become k-dramas. It's a story of lost love, amnesia and reunions, starring Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo. It's fun to see how the excitement started and how k-dramas made winter so appealing.
"Healer": You can't quite marathon this drama yet as it is currently running, but it does feature a snowy kiss between Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young. The romantic snowy kiss takes place in Episode 8. The stylist for this drama was also on target. The characters wear an inspiring collection of snuggly sweaters and jackets that make winter seem like a fashionista's dream.
And while we are talking about current dramas with snowy kisses and lovely winter clothes, we can't forget "Pinocchio.'
"Pinocchio": This currently running drama also includes a snowy kiss between Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk. With its interesting plot and adorable actors, this drama is almost at an end but that just means it will be easier to marathon.
