Good news TMNT fans, as new updates for the Michael Bay produced, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 have been revealed.
It looks like the TMNT 2014 sequel has a green lit, and production will begin on April this year, with "Earth To Echo" director Dave Green to helm the movie. Collider has reported that TMNT producer Andrew Form shared his thoughts on what to expect from the sequel.
“We’re in prep right now. We start shooting in New York in April”
He also added what kind of role Bebop and Rocksteady will have on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 considering that they are officially on board in the movie.
"We know concept art was created for the dim witted thugs Bebop and Rocksteady, but of course they didn't end up in the first film. “We designed and we did lots of work on all of them and then only so many fit in the box and luckily we have another chance to make another one of these movies and some of those characters that got cut out of the first one can make it into the second one.”
As far as planning goes, we still don't have any idea what kind of story will the sequel have, but ScreenRant reports that former TMNT director Jonathan Liebesman pointed out a possible plot in the movie during an interview with them.
Screen Rant: I was going to save this next question for later, but it seems like we’re building off of it anyway. I mean I’m familiar with the old comics. I wanted to ask you guys, going forward, we saw a lot of Easter eggs from the comics – particularly like TCRI and things like that. I know where the TCRI story leads in the comics [spoiler: aliens]. Would you guys ever go so big and so sci-fi?
Jonathan Liebesman: Dimension X?
Screen Rant: Yeah.
Jonathan Liebesman: F*ck yes.
Although not entirely sure, but it will good to see that Dimension X will be part of the movie, and you know what's better than Dimension X?
Why having the alien overlord Krang be a part of the TMNT sequel, as he has already established a legacy in the TMNT mythos especially in the 90's cartoon series.
ScreenRant also added that TMNT 2 will likely explore the origins of the mutagen TCRI, and the people responsible for it. Could we see Krang or Dimension X soon? So far, there have been no confirmation regarding the plot of the film.
Will we see Krang in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 soon? Sound off in the comments section below.
