"Lego Movie 2" plot, cast and release date updates continue to swarm the interwebs, proving that fans are really looking forward to see the sequel despite the original being snubbed at the Oscars.

According to The Guardian, "It was the highest-grossing film of 2014 in the UK, holds a staggering rating of 96% 'fresh' on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes and has been widely praised as a pioneering example of how to mine movie gold from the most unlikely of corporate sources. But The Lego Movie still wasn't good enough to make the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' list of nominees for the best animated film Oscar."

"In one of the biggest snubs of this year's award season, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's flamboyant tale lost out to Big Hero 6, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and The Boxtrolls, as well as Song of the Sea and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya," the site continued.

However, as fans can consider as a consolation, "Lego Movie's" catchy song "Everything is Awesome" has been nominated for best original song. And as cast member Chris Pratt shared in a recent interview, the song intends to be remembered.

"Well, I think it follows the theme of this movie, which you think is just some Lego movie made to sell toys -- and it's actually a really subversive, interesting, thought-provoking commentary on society," the "Lego Movie" star told Vulture.

"The song itself represents that because it's saying that everything is awesome, but it's the anthem of this strange world that exists halfway between America and North Korea, you know what I mean? Twenty or 30 years from now, I think people will look back at 'Everything Is Awesome,' and it'll be more than just a cool pop song. It's really reflective of where we are right now, and that's what art is all about," he added.

Meanwhile, "Lego Movie 2" plot, cast and release date reports confirmed that "Lego Batman Movie" will take the original 2017 launch of " Lego Movie 2." Another Lego movie called "Ninjago" on the other hand, is slated for an October 14, 2016 release.

In addition to the Lego movies in the works, Warner Bros. is definitely working on more Lego video games. After "Lego Batman," "Lego Star Wars" and "Lego Hobbit" made than more than $2B, the company thought it would be a good decision to keep doing more of these video games in the future.
