There has been previous news about "American Idol" season 14 undergoing major changes, starting with how the contestants will be presented to the viewers.

First of all, the final 24 contestants were already introduced, right when the show debuted, according to NOLA.com. To keep the surprise, however, "Idol" only used their silhouettes. This also proved to be an effective marketing strategy in a sense that viewers are already trying to figure out who is who in the silhouette compared to the aspiring singers who got tickets to Hollywood during the first four episodes of the show.

Another subtle change that can be noticed in the few episodes that were already aired - less "bad contestants."

Executive producer Trish Kinane decided to get rid of bad performances "because people know when it's manipulated, and it's manipulative to put obviously bad people in front of these guys, who are looking for the best talent."

Scott Borchetta, who is responsible for Taylor Swift's success, was also called in to help hone the contestants' skills. Not only will he act as in-house mentor but he will also be offering the "American Idol" season 14 winner an exclusive contract in his his music label, Big Hit.

"My job will be helping the artists understand who they are, what their vision is and what the arena is for them to really go after it and be an individual," Borchetta told TV Line. "That's one of the reasons I'm so excited to be involved with them from the beginning, to really work with them."

"We really think we've got great talent this year, so we really wanted to say that up front," Kinane further share. "We wanted to say, 'Look, guys, this is a good season. It's worth investing your time.'"

Will these subtle changes in the early stages of "American Idol" season 14 boost the Fox show's not so eager net ratings?
