After playing Sherlock Holmes for three years, "The Imitation Game" star Benedict Cumberbatch has come to know so much about the sleuth detective.
"I think he's rather a thrilling person to spend time with," Cumberbatch reportedly told NPR about the fictional detective.
"Sherlock" has amassed a mostly female following who think that Dr. John Watson's best friend - as played by Cumberbatch - is quite sexy.
The soon-to-be-married British star is aware of this following. After all, a huge percent of these "Sherlock" fans are his own avid followers.
"Being really hyperobjective about it, I kind of ... do understand it," he said about Sherlock's sex appeal, "because he's aloof, he's pretty cold and mean; but he's utterly brilliant, can be incredibly charming, incredibly capable and smart and funny but also flawed."
On the other hand, "The Imitation Game" star Benedict Cumberbatch doesn't think he has the same appeal as his TV counterpart.
"It's a projection of work, and that's why you're right to ask the question about whether Sherlock is sexy, because I sure as hell ain't," he admitted.
The Oscar Best Actor nominee has reportedly been in the business for 10 to 15 years but he "wasn't on any lists of the millionth most attractive."
Nevertheless, he still finds the attention "very flattering."
"The Imitation Game" star Benedict Cumberbatch also confessed that "it makes me giggle, as [fans] know, because it is - it's sort of silly. ... I think it is a reflection of the work and hopefully how I come across when I'm talking about the work, rather than what I actually have got."
In fact, he is still getting used to the fame that comes with his portrayal of such great characters but sometimes, there are still days when he wishes that he was "invisible."
