Cosmos season 2 is in the works and Bill Nye "The Science Guy" has finally responded to rumors that he would take over the hosting duties of the show.

Previously, Cosmos fans over at IMDB have discussed who could be the host of Cosmos season 2 and Bill Nye was the one who "won" against other great scientific figures such as Michio Kaku and Richard Dawkins.

Bill Nye has heard the pleas of the fans and he has finally responded to the question of "Can you be the host of Cosmos season 2?"

KpopStarz reported that Bill Nye responded to that question in a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) session and this is what he said:

"I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Why would Neil step down? Neil's a dear friend of mine, so we'd have to take a meeting,"

With Bill Nye not actually saying "no", this could mean that he is open to the idea that he could host the show as long as Neil deGrasse Tyson is open to it.

It should be noted that Cosmos producer, Seth MacFarlane, has revealed that the talked to Neil deGrasse Tyson about Cosmos season 2:

Neil deGrasse Tyson also confirmed on his Twitter page that indeed, he met with Seth MacFarlane about Cosmos season 2 and that he is feeling the "Cosmos love":

But this doesn't mean that he'll host the show.

Space.com has reported that Neil deGrasse Tyson doesn't have any plans to make Cosmos season 2. He said the show took a lot out of him, especially time away from his family. But he will continue to play a role in sharing science with the public.

Neil deGrasse Tyson also mentioned in an interview with TIME:

Host Neil deGrasse Tyson said that even if there is a season 2, he may not be the host.

"We're all flattered that people are thinking [about a Season 2] but it's not clear that this was the kind of content you want to rattle off one year after the next,"

"If some years down the line after my life has recovered, maybe. But I'd like science to be shared by all. If someone else came up and wanted to host it, I don't have any ego invested in the visibility that hosting Cosmos brought to me."
