It looks like the current build for Final Fantasy XV for the PS4 would have to be downgraded as Hajime Tabata admits that it is hard to maintain consistent 30fps at 1080p for the PS4.
The Sony PlayStation 4 has long been touted as the "most powerful" gaming console in the world right now by gamers but it seems that the most powerful gaming console in the world right now can't consistently get 30fps at 1080p on the latest build of Final Fantasy XV.
Hajime Tabata conducted a reddit AMA on January 23 and he answered some questions from fans about Final Fantasy XV. During the AMA, Tabata confirmed that to achieve 1080p at 30 fps for the final version of the game is their goal right now but he says that is difficult to achieve at the moment.
"Our target for the full version is full-HD (30 fps), but it's difficult to realize that with the graphics and features we have in the game."
Why can't the PS4, aka "the most powerful" console in the world, handle the game at 1080p 30fps?
Linus Sebastian and Luke Lafreniere have tested how the PS4 stacks against a PC video card to find out how powerful the console really is.
Their experiment shows that the PS4 is just as powerful as an under clocked GTX 480.
To keep things in perspective, the GTX 480 (a graphics card released 5 years ago) had to be under clocked so that it could match the performance of the PS4 while Nvidia's recently released $210 graphics card, the GTX 960 is estimated to be 72% better than the GTX 480 by HwCompare and Benchmark.pl
With SquareEnix not realizing the full potential of FFXV on the PS4, could they develop PC version so that fans can play the game with no problems regarding the game's performance?
