Paul Feig finally revealed the all-female cast of "Ghostbusters 3"! The director posted four photos of comediennes on Twitter a few days ago, but there wasn't any formal announcement. The photo was of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
After posting that photo, he also revealed the release date of the reboot.
"In other news, #Ghostbusters will be hitting theaters July 22, 2016. Save the date!" He wrote on Twitter.
The rumors are now turning into facts; and the casting has received mixed reactions from fans.
Two of the original cast members have shown their support for the female ghost busters.
"It sounds as good an idea as any other! There are a lot of women that could scare off any kind of vapor!" Bill Murray told Access Hollywood.
Dan Aykroyd also expressed how happy he was about this transition.
"The Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
However, Ernie Hudson wasn't that thrilled about replacing male ghost busters with female.
"If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it's all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters?" The Guardian reported him saying.
"I love the idea of including women, I think that's great. But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don't think the fans want to see that," the actor that starred as Winston Zeddemore also said.
Hudson tried to defend himself by writing on Twitter, "Leave it 2 @guardian 2 pull a quote fr:months ago on an all gal new #Ghostbusters & make it sound like I just said it."
A few days ago, Ernie Hudson shared a photo of the all-female cast of "Ghostbusters 3" on Twitter.
"Four fiercely funny, foxy, females busting ghosts ... phenomenal!" The 69-year old actor captioned the photo,
Some people were surprised when he changed his mind; and some were disappointed because they agree with what he said months ago.
