Move over Benedict Cumberbatch because Charlie Hunnam is ready to take over the role in "The Lost City of Z."

According to Variety, the 34-year old actor will star as British surveyor Percy Fawcett. His character went missing while searching for a mythical city in the jungles of Brazil back in the 1920s.

That role was supposed to go to the "Star Trek Into Darkness" actor, but he instead decided to accept Marvel's offer of portraying the lead star in "Doctor Strange."

Charlie Hunnam may not have bagged the lead role in "Fifty Shades of Grey," but he was able to get the approval of the producers of the movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Plan B Entertainment which is headed by Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner will be producing the film adaptation of the best-selling novel "The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon" by David Grann.

Glenn Murray and Julie B. May of MICA Entertainment, on the other hand, will finance and co-produce the movie. Other producers on board are Marc Butan, Anthony Katagas and Dale Johnson. "The Lost City of Z" will be directed by James Gray, who is known for his work in "We Own The Night" which featured Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix.

Charlie Hunnam is set to star alongside a stellar cast headed by Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller. The British heartthrob is best known for his role as Jackson "Jax" Teller in the TV series "Sons of Anarchy." He was last seen in the big budget movie "Pacific Rim" in 2013.

Daily News reported that Hunnam is currently in the post-production of the Guillermo del Torro's horror film "Crimson Peak," which is expected to hit the U.S. theaters on Oct. 16. The news site also confirmed a sequel to the "Pacific Rim," where Hunnam would also be included. He is currently working on "Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur" by Guy Ritchie.
