Fans were thrilled when they found out that Steve Carell and Brad Pitt may be starring in one movie. The "Despicable Me" star is reportedly in negotiations to appear in "The Big Short." The film adaptation of Michael Lewis' best-selling non-fiction book will be produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B for Paramount.

The 52-year old actor gained fame for his hit comedies such as "The 40-Year Old Virgin," "Evan Almighty" and "Anchorman" film series. However, Carell has also proven that he can do some serious acting. He recently starred in the bio-drama "Foxcatcher" alongside Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. His performance earned him nominations at the Golden Globe, BAFTA, and SAG Awards.

If Steve Carell accepts the role in "The Big Short," he will be joining three of today's hottest actors - Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedian will star as money manager Steve Eisman who shorted subprime mortgages for FrontPoint partners.

"The Notebook" heartthrob will portray the role of bank trader Greg Lippmann while "The Dark Knight Rises" actor will star as Michael Burry who is the founder of the Scion Capital. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, will take on the role of Ben Hockett who is a partner at Cornwall Capital.

During an interview with USA Today, Steve Carell was asked if he will be appearing in the financial drama. "That looks like it's happening," the actor said.

He added, "There are talks right now." Carell could have been influenced by "Foxcatcher" director Bennet Miller, who worked on the film adaptation of Michael Lewis' "Moneyball".

Steve Carell's response seems promising so there's a huge chance that the movie is going to combust with him starring in the film alongside Hollywood hunks Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale. The comedian laughed and said, "One of these things is not like the other."
