"Running Man's" Kim Jong Kook and the actor-singers of 5uprise were among the celebrities that walked the red carpet on February 5 at the Third Annual DramaFever Awards in New York City.
Gracing the red carpet were Korean-American actress Arden Cho of "Teen Wolf," Taiwanese actor George Wu, Japanese actor Yuki Furukawa, the actor-idol group 5urprise, Hudson Yang, the 11-year-old star of the new sitcom "Fresh Off The Boat;" and Running Man's own "Sparta" Kim Jong Kook.
The celebrities stopped to answer a few questions before the awards ceremony began.
The members of 5uprise performed at the awards ceremony and already have plenty of drama credits among them. Seo Kang Joon played the second lead in "Cunning Single Lady" and is now a regular on "Roommates." Lee Tae Hwan, the tallest member of the group, had a sizable role in "Pride and Prejudice," starring Choi Jin Hyuk and Baek Jin Hee.
When they were asked which actress they most enjoyed working with, they said Kim So Eun in unison. Kim co-starred with all five group members in the mobile drama "After School Bokbulbok."
When asked what they wanted American audiences to know about them, Seo Kang Joon answered that audiences should know their members are passionate about everything they do.
"We sing, we act, we dance, we can do several things," said Seo with dramatic enthusiasm.
It was the first trip to New York for 5urprise. The group found the city very exciting and planned to eat burgers and visit Shake Shack. They hoped to come back soon although they had no immediate plans for a concert tour.
Arden Cho, who hosted the show was asked about her interest in k-dramas and had to admit that her favorite was "Boys Over Flowers." She previously said she liked "City Hunter" so you can assume she is a Lee Min Ho fan. She did say that in person he is nothing like his "Boys Over Flowers" character Gu Jun Pyo.
"He's nice and sweet," said Cho.
Her co-host was popular Taiwanese American actor George Hu, who said he always enjoys coming back to America whenever he can.
"It's good to be back," said Hu. "It's very refreshing."
"Running Man" star Kim Jong Kook had little time for questions but flashed his brilliant smile and posed graciously with reporters.
One of the brightest stars on the red carpet that night was also the smallest celebrity. Hudson Yang, who appears on the new American television show "Fresh Off The Boat," is only 11 but the event was his third red carpet appearance. His red carpet walk demonstrated that he already knew how to smile for the camera.
What did he like most about being a TV star? He said that he didn't really think he was a star.
"The best part of being on the show is getting to hang out on set with tons of cool people," said Yang.
Had appearing on the show made him more popular?
"I've always been kind of popular," he said. "And had lots of friends."
Now he will also have fans.
