Recent Carrie Underwood news reveal the story behind her current chart-topper "Something In The Water," which was explained by the pregnant country singer's co-writer, Chris DeStefano.

According to Carrie Underwood news reported by Taste Of Country, Chris DeStefano and another hit Nashville songwriter, Brett James, enjoyed working with the country diva for what was initially just an experimental single.

"Going in to write with Carrie, it's always an adventure, because obviously she can do so many different things stylistically," said Chris DeStefano.

"I had this little musical idea I brought in, (so) I started playing (Something In The Water) in the room for Brett and Carrie."

"I remember saying, 'Well, you guys are hopefully gonna like this, or hate it,'" he narrated.

After Chris DeStefano played a few lines and convinced the two co-writers that his experimental song was going to be a hit, the former "American Idol" winner suggested the title.

"Carrie said, 'I have this song title, 'Something in the Water,' and she kind of explained what she wanted to write about," Chris DeStefano recalled.

"We were just immediately like, 'Oh gosh, that would really be beautiful over this. We immediately knew. It was just one of those things where the whole vibe of the song really began at that point, really strong right from the get-go."

"Something In The Water" has stayed on top of the country music charts ever since it was released late last year.

"It was just a magical day," the songwriter said about how their trio came up with "Something In The Water".

"There was just an energy in the room, and it was really powerful," he added.

Earlier Carrie Underwood news from Breitbart reported how the Grammy-winning country star gushed about the Christian meaning behind her current hit.

"'Something in the Water' is so inspirational. It's joyous! I can't help but smile when I hear it," Carrie Underwood said.

"It's an uplifting song about changing your life and having that 'aha moment' to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward," the devout Christian explained.
