Director JJ Abrams found filming "Star Wars Episode 7" very challenging as he gushed about the universe created by George Lucas like a true fanboy.
In the "Star Wars Episode 7" news from Daily Mail, the "Star Trek" director said that he dedicated a couple of years of his life for the Disney film.
"Spending the last two years in the world of light sabers and tie fighters has been absolutely challenging and a dream come true," he said in a speech during the 13th annual Visual Effects Society Awards in Beverly Hills on Wednesday.
He also recounted that he wouldn't have achieved his success today if not for the support of his parents who allowed him to "blow s-t up," and also his sister "who let him blow her up."
JJ Abrams also thanked Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy for trusting him to direct "Star Wars Episode 7."
"I want to thank Kathy Kennedy for saying the words, 'Do you want to direct Star Wars?' and actually being in a position to let me direct Star Wars," he said.
"Star Wars Episode 7" is one of the most anticipated films in 2015, judging from the hype of the trailer which generated a million views in record time. Also, news outlets have been covering spoilers, teasers or just about any information to satiate the appetite of fans.
In other "Star Wars Episode 7" news from Slash Film, JJ Abrams explained the controversy behind the lightsaver shaped like a cross.
"It was a sketch that became a whole thing and, you know, this was not done without a lot of conversation and it's fun to see people have the conversation that we had, but in reverse," he said.
JJ Abrams added: "I will say that what's been funny is, since the lightsaber's come out, I cannot tell you how many contradictory emails I have received from people who have both defended it with unbelievably detailed graphics...I've gotten things that are nuts, and I've gotten people who've shown how it'll kill you and how it doesn't make any sense. It's been the funniest thing to see the arguments that have developed over this thing."
