Katy Perry took a stand against domestic violence in a big way as she used the 2015 Grammys as a platform to rage against some families' ugly secret.
The 30-year-old pop star, and John Mayer's rumored girlfriend, performed "By the Grace of God" at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.
She also invited Brooke Axtell, a survivor of domestic abuse, to share her story right before Katy Perry sang.
"If you are in a relationship with someone that does not honor or respect you, I want you to know that you are worthy of love," Axtell said.
Katy Perry opted to dump her usual theatrical performances as she dressed in a white cape gown for the muted, but powerful, performance at the 2015 Grammys.
At the red carpet, Katy Perry wore "a glittering beaded Zuhair Murad design, later swapping her lavender locks for a dark ponytail," said E!
"I just want to shine bright like a diamond!" she quipped to Ryan Seacrest during the impromptu interview. The statement was culled from Rihanna's hit song, "Diamonds."
Meanwhile, the feuding Katy Perry and Taylor Swift avoid each other during the 2015 Grammys with a lot of help from the organizers, said Hollywood Life.
"Word was that Taylor Swift was meant to show up, and Katy left before any of that could happen," the source told the website. "Taylor didn't show because rumors were that she knew Katy was there, and Katy left thinking Taylor was going to show, so they definitely made an effort to avoid each other."
The two hitmakers have been sniping at each other in social media for the past few months. Lately, John Mayer and DJ Diplo also reportedly took a shot at Taylor Swift, alleged at Katy Perry's own urging.
Perhaps, it's for the best that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry didn't bump into each other so the spotlight would be on the "Roar" singer's campaign against domestic violence at the 2015 Grammys.
