Magic Johnson again blamed Jim Buss over Los Angeles Lakers woes, as Jeremy "Linsanity" Lin's name is being mentioned again in the latest trade rumors ahead of the deadline next week.

In an interview on First Take, Magic Johnson said that this summer will be big for Jim Buss to prove himself capable of leading the Los Angeles Lakers.

"Now you're starting to lose the fan base," he said. "If he doesn't have a big summer with a free agent, it looks like they'll have a good draft pick. Put that together with a good free agent, you can be right back into the mix. If this summer, that doesn't happen where they can sign a great player, it's over for us."

Magic Johnson said that Jim Buss has to help the Los Angeles Lakers get back to being relevant and that means signing a good free agent, "get a good draft pick and send Kobe out the right way."

"The Lakers can get back in the mix, but the West is so tough," the hall of famer added. "That's the problem. The West is just so good. There's going to be two teams over .500 that won't make the playoffs. For Jim Buss, this is a big year for him and for the fan base too in believing in him and trusting him. He can gain the trust back if he has a good summer."

Meanwhile, Linsanity is again the subject of trade rumors, as Bleacher Report claimed that Jeremy Lin's "energy and hustle make him an ideal point guard off the bench."

The article said that this strength is what the Los Angeles Lakers should market as a trade bait, rather than selling off Jeremy Lin like he was still in "Linsanity" mode, when he averaged over 20 points and nearly 10 assists for the New York Knicks.
