Thanks to his brilliant portrayal of the genius yet anti-social Sherlock Holmes in "Sherlock," fans of the show would think that Oscar nominated actor Benedict Cumberbatch wouldn't be too keen on starting a family much less caring for a baby.
The talented British star, however, proved that he was way different than Sherlock when he gushed about his future wife and mother of his child, Sophie Hunter, just after announcing their engagement the old-fashioned way.
The theater actress and director's pregnancy was confirmed a couple of months after the couple got engaged.
"I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child," a representative for "The Imitation Game" star said back in January, adding that both parents-to-be are "over the moon."
One of Cumberbatch's friends recently confirmed the genuine excitement that the couple feels for their yet-to-be-born son or daughter.
"He's very excited about it and so is Sophie [Hunter]," Allan Leech, who is also the Oscar nominated Benedict Cumberbatch's co-star in the Alan Turing biopic, shared to People Magazine.
"I wish there was something that he wasn't perfect at," the "Downton Abbey" star admitted. "He's an excellent runner, he's so fit, he's a great cook, he's a great friend and he'll be a great dad."
The Oscar nominated actor Benedict Cumberbatch and his stunning fiancé, Sophie Hunter, greeted fans during the BAFTA Awards in London this week.
The dapper gentleman wore an Alexander McQueen classic tux while his wife-to-be concealed her baby bump in a black halter dress by Maison Margiela.
Unfortunately, he lost the Best Actor award to another actor friend, Eddie Redmayne for playing Stephen Hawking in "The Theory Of Everything."
They will compete for the same category one more time at the 2015 Oscar Awards on Feb. 22.
Hunter was also spotted hanging out with famous Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, at a haute couture show earlier this month. They were allegedly picking out the gown for the Oxford graduate's upcoming wedding with the Oscar nominated Benedict Cumberbatch.
