Good news Marvel fans as new details and updates on Wolverine 3 have been revealed.

We start off with new updates regarding Wolverine 3's plot as director James Mangold hinted clues regarding Logan's new adventure in the third installment.

According to reports from JBG News, Mangold talked about the possible plot details for Wolverine 3 as well as the future of the Wolverine spin off films in Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy blog site.

“I would just say it is always going to be about his relationships to other characters. We are very much trying to work with existing text. There are other great Wolverine stories out there but suffice it to say there are great texts about his connections to others, villains, characters from the lore and from the comics that we can bring out and have another great and meaningful adventure.”

JBG News pointed out that two comic book storylines could be used in that film, as the website suggest it could be a combination of both "Old Man Logan", and the controversial "The Death Of Wolverine" arcs. The "Old Man Logan" story was already pitched last year by Mangold, but adding in "The Death of Wolverine" could be an interesting factor. Audiences have already seen the origin, and mortality of Logan in the two Wolverine films, and now we will likely see how he dies in the Wolverine 3.

To further support this claim, Hugh Jackman hinted that the comic books might give inspiration on the film's development during an interview with MTV.

“It does draw on some comic book stuff. There are some things, but in typical fashion sort of one main one with a few bits here and there and then opening it up. Jim [James Mangold] and I, we’ve been talking about it, he has a treatment. But I mean, we’re a way out from it so we’re in really good shape with it. I’m really, really excited about it.”

But that's not all, Jackman also talked about the possibility of having Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now that Marvel Studios has already gain Spider-Man in partnership with Sony.

“I like to think there’s that possibility for all of it, and I would even like to think more that it doesn’t happen out of necessity, y’know, when someone’s run it into the ground or something. I optimistically love the idea of “What the hell, Batman versus Iron Man versus Wolverine!” Let’s just chuck ‘em in."

Jackman further adds,"We’ll see what happens, but maybe as these things go on more and more they’ll want to and need to do all that stuff. I’m optimistic, I’d think it’d be great, but hey, it’s not my billions of dollars behind this promise. [laughs] It’s easy for us to speculate, “Why did they do that?!”

Hugh Jackman has been vocal about having his character join the Avengers since last year, going so far as teasing fans of having a showdown with the Incredible Hulk.

"There's no doubt he'd get in a fight with Hulk at some point. Those two bad, rage-filled characters are going to square off at some point. It would be quite fun. I don't know how much fun to shoot it would be because I'm sure I'd be on the worst end of it, but hey, he can heal."

Now that Marvel Studios has re-acquired Spider-Man, perhaps they will have a chance to gain the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four franchises from Fox, but it could take a very long time before that ever happens.

Wolverine 3 will be shown in theaters on March 3, 2017.
