"Fifty Shades of Grey" is the hottest movie right now, but have you ever wondered what it would be like if Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart starred in the controversial film?
There were reports that the lead character of the drama, Christian Grey, was inspired by Edward Cullen in "Twilight".
During an interview with Reuters, the 28-year old actor revealed how he felt about his involvement to the new character.
"It's kind of weird and also I've known Jamie [Dornan] for about 10 years. I haven't actually read the book but I think it must be very, very different. I don't see how it can work if it's not different," said Pattinson.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, "Fifty Shades of Grey" author E.L. James could have initially wanted to cast Robert Pattinson as Christian Grey and it may have even reached the discussion stages. However, he reportedly refused the role because Kristen Stewart will not be playing Anastasia Steele, which means that it won't do anything for his career and personal life.
This is contrary to what Hollywood Life reported back in 2013 when the erotic movie was still in its early stages of planning. According to the website, Rob wanted a different path for his career.
"He wants his career to go in a completely different route. Add that to the fact that he is not the number one pick from the producers, it's just not happening," their source claimed.
The first choice to play the character Christian Grey is Charlie Hunnam, who is now all set to star in "The Lost City of Z" together with Robert Pattinson. The 34-year old actor allegedly refused the role because he doesn't want to be a typecast just like what happened to his co-star.
"He didn't want the Robert Pattinson-esque attention that would come along with taking on this role," an insider told People.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" was recently shown in theaters and many viewers were disappointed. It got an average rating of 4.2/10 from Rotten Tomatoes and had a metascore of 47 from Metacritic. Maybe if Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart starred in the film, the scores could have been different.
