It didn't start out with the greatest ratings but the first episode of the new vampire medical drama 'Blood," starring Ahn Jae Hyun and Gu Hye Sun, could make you crave more.

Here are five reasons you may want to check out this new drama:

1. Ahn Jae Hyun, who plays the vampire doctor Park Ji Sang, is the healthiest looking vampire we have ever seen. His flushed cheeks and blood-infused lips make Robert Pattinson look pale.

2. It promises to be full of campy goodness. Already in the first episode Park Ji Sang got to say the line, "Don't worry. I won't die," when soldiers are telling him he is in danger and must evacuate.

3. Park Ji Sang has some cool superpowers. Not only can he ricochet off walls and take on several bad guys at the same time, but he can also visualize a person's blood flow and that ability makes him a genius surgeon. This ability to know what is going on inside a patient is similar to the special talent displayed by Joo Won in "The Good Doctor." That should not be surprising since the drama has the same director and writer.

Also, Park Ji Sang can grow his fingernails at super speed, which is a super power many women might envy.

4. It's fun to compare the drama to "Twilight" or "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" since the writer and director are obviously fans. Viewers can almost make a drinking game out of the times the first episode references "Twilight." There was a scene in which Ahn Jae Hyun held the villain up against the wall, a scene in which he ran through the woods at super speed, jumped off a cliff and a blurry underwater scene, just to reference a few. The vampire overlords and their spooky hooded henchmen might also remind you of the Volturi in "Twilight."

5. It has an interesting take on vampires. In this drama people become vampires after they are infected by a virus, although the plot has not yet revealed what part genetics play in becoming bloodthirsty. Ryu Soo Young who plays Ahn Jae Hyun's dad was a vampire and so was his mother. But she makes the young Park Ji Sang take medicine to keep him from displaying his vampire tendencies and so he can go out in the sun. She seemed to be working on a cure.

By the second episode the show moves into a hospital setting and may therefore become a more standard medical drama, except with a few fangs. But it could still be a lot of fun.
