Looks like a good news for Windows Phone users as Microsoft is currently working on a location sharing app called "People Sense."
Citing the growing need to track other smartphone users, like family and friends, Windows Phone is set to unveil an app that will finally address this concern.
TheHoopsNews points out that Microsoft has remained without an app that manages this task for a very long time while iOS and Android have offered options for doing such thing. The tech giant is finally working on a location sharing app that will handle this task, according to Uncover California.
According to Spanish site Microsoft Place, "People Sense" will allow users to not only chat but also share their location with friends and family. Currently under a limited beta release, People Sense will give Microsoft smartphone users an option to share their location, Spanish blog, Microsoft Place confirms.
Codenamed Buddy Aware, People Sense app's only drawback seems to be the fact that users will need to be Windows Phone users in order to take advantage of the app. Incredibly successful so far, Apple's Find might be somewhat pushed as it already has more users as compared to Microsoft as far as its mobile community is concerned. People Sense is indeed an indication of what Microsoft is willing to do to make itself prominent in the mobile space again.
According to Uncover California, People Sense will allow users to choose a group of close friends and relatives, termed as "trusted circle" by Microsoft, and enable them to share their location with that specific group. People Sense would alternatively offer integration with 3rd party apps for communication and navigation purposes.
WindowsCentral notes that the leaked build is dated Feb. 17 hinting that it is under active development. The features of the app and the timing of the leak taken into consideration, it may turn into a replacement for Rooms feature on Windows phone, which Microsoft announced on Feb. 17 that it will be dropping support for.
People Sense will also provide easy access links to friends including calling, messaging, from within the app itself. There is no information as far the release date for the app is concerned.
