We previously reported that YouTube is scheduled to launch a child-friendly app and now the said app has arrived.

The Under Consideration reported that the YouTube Kids has launched in Feb. 23. The new app can filter YouTube content into a selection of age-appropriate videos, songs and playlists in a super simple user interface, which targets 4-year-olds and up.

"We're introducing the YouTube Kids App, the first Google product built from the group up with little ones in mind," wrote Shimrit Ben-Yair YouTube Kids Group Product Manager on YouTube official blog. "The app makes it safer and easier for children to find videos on topics they want to explore."

The YouTube for kids app is available on App Store and Google Play in the United States for free. The said app will feature favorite episodes from Jim Henson TV, DreamWorksTV, "Reading Rainbow," "Talking Tom and Friends," Mother Goose Club, National Geographic Kids, "Thomas the Tank Engine" and more.

Furthermore, the developer of the app added that to control the use of the app, they have built options that can help the parent to limit their children. One of the options is the built-in timer. The app will alert the child if the session is over.

Also, aside from the built-in timer, sound settings and search settings, the company also added a "product feedback" that will generate comments from the user to further improve the said application.

Moreover, the YouTube for kids app is designed for easier use, it has larger images, bold icons and more. It has also a built in voice search for the kids who can't spell or type, so they can directly still find the videos.
