A man in a pirate costume reportedly threatened a guard on the set of the "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" film. The latest swashbuckling franchise is being shot in Gold Coast, Australia.
The report alleged that the incident occured at 12:30 p.m. when someone from the public raised the alarm about the incident. Police were told that a man in a pirate costume and a bird on top of his shoulder threatened one of the guards on the set of "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales" in the suburb of Arundel.
There were no injuries reported and the man in the pirate attire reportedly ran into a bush land nearby.
"Police are looking at CCTV footage to determine the identity of the man," a QPS media representative said, according to a report by ABC Online. "Anyone who can assist police with their enquiries is urged to contact police."
One of the personnel, who is said to be the location manager of the film, mentioned that he did not want to add say anything about the incident.
"It's in the hands of the professionals. We can leave it to them," he stated.
An Arundel local said the situation was not too unbelievable given the high number of people he had been seen attempting to take photos of the set. A local from the Arundel area said that the incident was not very unusual give that a large number of people had been trying to take photographs of the set of the pirate movie.
"I expect lots of people try to get in," the local commented.
Another local interviewed said that the stunt was "desperate and dumb."
The Queensland police have released a photograph of the man that they are looking for.
This is the fifth film off the adventure series starring Johnny Depp as the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow. Shooting for the film started on the coast of Queensland last month and will suffer minimal impact as a result of the injury to its main star.
"Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is set to open in the US on July 7, 2017.
