"The Good Wife" star Juliana Margulies revealed the secret why her hair looks so good in the series: She's actually wearing a wig made of real strands.
During a visit to the "David Letterman Show," Juliana Margulies said the hair department should have all credit for her locks.
"The curly-haired actress wears a custom-made wig in her role as Alicia Florrick," said TIME. "Letterman, who seemed shocked at the news, commented on the 'fantastic' look of the hair piece. Turns out, that level of wig quality comes at a price - $10,000 to be precise."
"My own hair is very curly and they wanted her to look coiffed and have straight hair," she told the comedian host. "I thought, 'Oh my God, 22 episodes a year, 14 hours a day' and if the weather changes my hair starts growing like a Chia pet."
Meanwhile, putting on the wig only takes about 10 minutes and it solves a lot of continuity problems because her locks always look coifed.
In past interviews, Juliana Margulies has revealed that wearing a wig will save her two hours each day before filming, which she could use preparing for her role.
"But the wigs aren't just a lifesaver for Margulies, because thanks to the show's flashbacks, the hair department doesn't have to style her, rather just go back to wigs from previous seasons," said In Style.
"Not only did the talented actress perfectly explain the work that goes into having natural curly hair to Letterman, but she also broke it down to the confused host the reason why dry bars exist. Julianna Margulies: curly-haired hero," the article added.
In "The Good Wife," Juliana Margulies' character Alicia Florrick continues her campaign of becoming state attorney, and it turns out that her law firm is crumbling as a result. She also finds herself dealing with the ethical dilemma of compromising her principles for her ambition.
