The Holy Father said that March 8 is a celebration and commemorating the importance of women and the necessity of their presence in the society and life.
"A world where women are excluded is a world more sparse, because women don't only bring life, but they transmit the capacity to see beyond what meets the eye. They have a capacity to help us see the world through different eyes, to feel things with hearts that are more creative, more patient, more tender," said Pope Francis to his the people present in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, according to the report of Ukraine Today.
"A special blessing and prayer for all women who are here in the square and all the women out there," he added.
Furthermore, according to Catholic News Agency, the Pope Francis statement come alongside a conference held on Sunday, March 8 at the Vatican that aimed at giving a voice to women who are working on the fringes of society.
The said conference is titled "Voices of Faith" which gathers various women from different organizations such as policy makers, academics, human rights activists and more to give witness to their line of work in the areas of poverty and the defense of equality and human dignity.
Meanwhile, the Roman Catholic leader had previously said that he wants women to be part of the greater role in the 1.2 billion strong Roman Catholic Church though it retains a ban on women to hold a higher position in the church.
